XEP 4.8 released

RenderX has released XEP 4.8. Major achievements are in AFP backend.
XEP 4.8 provides support in AFP backend for barcodes with BC:OCA, partial support for SVG with G:OCA, highlight color and bullets.

DocBench distribution includes oXygen 8.

A number of other improvements and bug fixes, including relaxed limitation for strip/tile tags in TIFF processing, default 'xHeight' in Type1 fonts.

XEPwin 2.0 has also been updated and now it includes XEP 4.8.

The new version of WordML2FO stylesheets released for free download

RenderX has released the new version of WordML2FO stylesheets for converting WordML documents into XSL FO (XSLFO).
WordML2FO has been improved by RenderX for processing of section breaks, "Styles and Formatting" in WordML files created in localized version of the Microsoft Word, lists labels and items, alternative fonts name, properties of nested tables, barcodes support for AFP-standard BC:OCA encoding and partial Microsoft Word 2007 support (tested with Microsoft Word 2007 Beta 2).
During the year RenderX has been strongly developing the WordML2FO to extend its abilities. Major achievements are in Word graphics support (starting with basic shapes up to complex ones like Block Arrows, Stars and Banners, Callouts etc) and barcodes support. RenderX has improved the wide set of formatting elements processing like sections, headers and footers, tables, lists, processing of XML elements specified by custom XML scheme and others.
WordML2FO package contains the collection of samples to demonstrate the capabilities of the conversion and user documentation to help users do the conversion.

The new version of INX2FO stylesheets released for free download

The new version of XSLT stylesheets designed for converting Adobe InDesign Interchange (INX) format to XSL FO (XSLFO) is now available. RenderX has improved these stylesheets for text indents processing and support of tint (for shapes borders and background).
The RenderX INX2FO package includes improved stylesheets for performing the transformation, as well as updated user documentation and a set of samples.

GOA/Xplor 2007 Exhibition and Conference

Graphics of the Americas, the second largest U.S.-based annual international graphic communications exhibition and Xplor International debuts the XML/PDF exhibit pavilion, February 28 through March 4, 2007 in Miami Beach, Florida. In addition, the pavilion will be offering topic-specific conference curricula and vendor tutorials. As part of these curricula and vendor tutorials, Kevin Brown was selected to run the XML Forum: Document Production for Implementers and XML Forum: Document Production for Decision Makers.

Speakers will consist of Management and Technical personnel from AIG, Choicepoint Precision Marketing, Crane Software, Elan GMK, foActive LLC, Industrial Medium, Innodata-Isogen, RenderX, Lehman Brothers, and PostNexus.

The 3rd Annual Gilbane Conference on Content Technologies Boston

The Gilbane Conference on Content Management has asked Kevin Brown to speak at its Automated Publishing track scheduled on Wednesday, November 29, 2006. This is Kevin’s second speaking engagement at the Gilbane Conference. This year’s conference will be focusing on the broad range of content technologies available for enterprise applications, including technologies like content management and enterprise search.

XEP 4.7 released, with some support for XSL 1.1 and improvements in AFP backend

RenderX has released XEP 4.7. The new version supports some XSL 1.1 features in FO namespace and includes major improvements in AFP backend. XEP 4.7 supports XSL 1.1 change-bars, bookmarks, indexes, fo:page-number-citation-last and page-position="only". These features are now supported in FO namespace, with some limitations.

XEP 4.7 also includes major improvements in AFP backend: support for FORMDEFs, 'dashed' and 'dotted' line styles, shading patterns and image caching.

XEPwin 2.0 has also been updated and now it includes XEP 4.7.

INX2FO stylesheets released for free download

RenderX has expanded the development tools for creating XSL FO (XSLFO) through the development of a set of stylesheets for transformation of Adobe InDesign Interchange (INX) format to XSL FO (XSLFO).
Adobe InDesign CS2 allows to save documents in XML based format INX. XSL FO (XSLFO) is an XML markup language for document formatting. XSL FO (XSLFO) is part of XSL, a set of W3C technologies designed for the transformation and formatting of XML data.
The RenderX INX2FO package includes stylesheets for performing the transformation, as well as user documentation and a set of samples. For the initial release, INX2FO supports most of the important document structures like tables, paragraphs, and images.
The RenderX INX2FO stylesheets can be downloaded here. This is another free tool offered to the community by RenderX. With this download, you will receive a collection of stylesheets for converting Adobe InDesign INX documents to XSL FO (XSLFO). INX2FO stylesheets package also includes some application notes and several sample documents that demonstrate the capabilities of the conversion.

XEP 4.6 released, includes AFP output generation

RenderX has released XEP 4.6, a new version of its XSL processor and accompanying tools. The new version introduces AFP output generation - XEP can now output documents in AFP format. New features include:

  • AFP backend (requires a special license)
  • Line-breaking algorithm conforms to the Unicode Standard Annex #14
  • New implementation of XSL 1.1 change bars

XEP 4.6 has built-in support for generating AFP documents. AFP support is available through a special license. AFP is an architecture for high volume transaction output supported by various vendors of printing equipments like IBM, Kodak, and Xerox.

RenderX is pleased to announce new support for generating AFP documents. The new XEP AFP generator is available with a special license. AFP is an architecture standard for high volume transaction output supported by such vendors of printing equipment like IBM, Kodak, Xerox and others.

AFP has built-in support for text and raster graphic output, vector graphic, vector and raster fonts and many other features. XEP AFP generator generates documents which are MODCA-P streams that contain PTOCA objects and IOCA objects. XEP AFP generator can also generate an additional stream that can contain raster images as IOCA objects.

XEPwin 2.0 and WinSuite Kit released, work with .NET
Framework 2.0

RenderX has released XEPwin 2.0 and WinSuite Kit. The new versions are intended for .NET Framework 2.0.XEPwin 2.0 distribution includes the most recent builds of XEP 4.5 and WordprocessingML To XSL FO (XSLFO) Converter. MSI installer will download and install required components: .NET Framework 2.0 and J2SE 1.4.2, if they are not yet installed in the system. Users do not need to download anything separately.

WinSuite Kit includes a new version of XEP.dll for use with .NET Framework 2.0.

License keys issued for version 1.2 of XEPwin and WinSuite Kit are valid for updates to 2.0 versions.

The new version of WordML2FO stylesheets released for free download

RenderX has released the new improved version of WordML2FO, a collection of XSLT stylesheets designed for converting WordprocessingML documents into XSL FO (XSLFO) documents (examples are included into the WordML2FO package).
Microsoft Word 2003 can save documents in WordprocessingML by representing edited constructs in XML syntax.
XSL-FO is an XML markup language for document formatting. XSL-FO is part of XSL, a set of W3C technologies designed for the transformation and formatting of XML data.
WordML2FO includes a generic stylesheet designed for performing this conversion, as well as an extension stylesheet that makes use of RenderX extensions such as flow-sections, document properties and bookmarks.
In this new version you will find several improvements such as generation of barcodes, support of .png images, capability to disallow breaking table rows at page breaks, support for character filled tabs, use of XSLT "plug-ins", some introductory support for WordArt (several basic shapes) and for smart-tags, and many other improvements.

With this download, you will receive a collection of stylesheets for converting Microsoft WordprocessingML to XSL FO (XSLFO). WordML2FO stylesheets package also includes some application notes and several sample documents that demonstrate the capabilities of the conversion.

XML 2005 Conference Proceedings Posted to Public

Idealliance and RenderX have published the final proceedings from The XML 2005 Conference. The proceedings and slides are available on the conference website. The proceedings themselves represent an excellent demonstration of RenderX software.Authors contributed XML content for their papers and RenderX software was used to produce HTML, PDF and SVG versions of each document. The entire process is automated, including the production of all indexes and organization of the website.

XEP 4.5 released, includes support for Thai

RenderX has released XEP 4.5, a new version of its XSL processor and accompanying tools. The new version introduces Thai support - XEP can now render documents written in Thai, performing proper word breaking and glyph composition. This feature requires SUN JDK 1.4+, but XEP will still run with earlier versions. Other improvements include better heuristics for side floats placement, refinements in marker retrieval algorithms, and resolution of fine conformance issues. RenderX will be introducing XEP version 4.5 and demonstrating output capabilities in PDF, Postscript and AFP.
