INX2FO Plug-In Beta for Adobe InDesign

INX2FO Plug-In is a plug-in for Adobe InDesign CS2. The primary purpose of the solution is to provide ability to generate documents with dynamically embedded data in a few mouse clicks. The plug-in simplifies transformation of Adobe InDesign CS2 documents to PDF or PostScript document formats, using INX2FO stylesheets and RenderX XEP/XEPWin engine.

Improved Business Process Effectiveness

Flow chart

Tutorial

For dynamic, flowing documents such as contracts, statements, loan packages, and marketing materials there is INX2FO Plug-In developed by RenderX. The plug-in can leverage the power of the widely-used Adobe InDesign CS2. It can be used in various industries such as financial and legal services, insurance, government, etc. INX2FO Plug-In is a powerful and user friendly tool that can help you simplify transformation from INX documents format to XSL FO (XSLFO) and PDF or PostScript using INX2FO stylesheets and XEP/XEPWin engine. The plug-in enables a user to use Adobe InDesign CS2 to design the layout, insert tags for the variable content, and generate outputs that can be merged with XML data. With the help of XEP, the documents are converted from their respective XML-based formats to XSL FO (XSLFO) and then to PDF or PostScript output. The plug-in hides all manipulations with the XSLT processor, INX2FO stylesheets, data source management and XEP formatter. Therefore, there is no need to make manual transformation from INX to XSL FO (XSLFO) and then to PDF - INX2FO Plug-In does it all for you. This means that the document preparation cycle will take less time of a document designer and so will improve the cost effectiveness of a business process.

Possible Ways Of Use

Design time

This part is actually the work place of the document designer. It may consist of only a single workstation with Adobe InDesign CS2 and INX2FO Plug-In installed. This setup provides a very comfortable way to create documents, because the designer may see the preview of the document’s final look.

Production

In this way INX2FO solution is optimized for the best performance at the production time. It means that InDesign is not used at all. Only RenderX XEP — a high speed formatting engine — and INX2FO stylesheets with INX document as input are in action. This configuration creates extreme productivity level and also is a cost effective solution.

Technical Advantages

INX2FO Plug-In enables transformations between different supported data source formats with the internal data source converter. This can be useful for creating InDesign documents with merged data (dynamic data). The plug-in with the INX2FO stylesheets enables the use of the dynamically embedded barcodes. The barcodes could be used in three different ways that makes their use very effective and flexible.
