RenderX has released 4.17. This major release brings a new backend, XPS as well as other significant improvements:

• Add <rx:media-object> to support insertion of multi-media content in PDF documents. Using this new extension available to all users, you can easily insert various multi-media objects into your PDFs, including:
  • Flash
  • AIFF
  • MPEG Audio and Video (MP3, MPEG-2, MPEG-4)
  • SMIL
• PDF Forms has been enhanced to support inserting complete Javascript libraries and provides hooks for applying Javascript to fields.
• PDFs as images now can be version 1.5 with xref streams.

A number of bugs have been fixed, including color bleeding of embedded PDFs, a linearization issue, an incorrect warning in tagged PDF and some positional issues with PDF Form fields.

The DocBench bundle now includes oXygen XML Editor 11.

This paper presents concepts that can be applied to create a solution for very large report formatting. The concepts can be applied in parallel such that one can realize the creation of huge output documents with 100,000+ pages at very high performance. RenderX is about to release our newest application VDPMill. Using the concepts described in this paper, RenderX with VDPMill has reached new milestones in XSL FO formatting reaching formatting speeds greater than 250 pages/second and generating print output spool files exceeding even 500,000 pages.

VisualXSL, a GUI-based designer for writing XSL stylesheets for use with RenderX XEP and VDPMill. The product supports creating static overlay forms and flowing documents with variable page layouts based on position such as first, any, last and only. Static and flowing documents can be mixed together into a complete XSL stylesheet project.

PDF Forms, XEP can now generate dynamic, interactive PDF Forms. There are 100s of uses for such a technology. Dynamically generated invoices can carry a PDF Form for easy reordering of products or credit card payment. Targeted Transpromo advertising in statements can be a PDF Form to upsell your related products. Surveys and applications can be populated with known information about a customer.

RenderX has released XEP 4.16. This release adds the ability to create PDF Forms, and also includes improvements in SVG, HTML and AFP generators:

• PDF Forms: a new extension allows to create interactive PDF documents.
• HTML and SVG generators have an option to produce a single zip file with each page as a separate file inside it.
• Another option in SVG and HTML generators allows to create just a few first pages for previewing.
• SVGZ and XEPOUT images are supported in HTML and SVG generators.
• Arbitrary processing instructions in fo:flow or fo:static-content are not discarded and appear in roughly the same places in XEPOUT.
• AFP generator supports native JPEG images and IMM instructions.
• Serialization of XEPOUT events became faster.

The DocBench bundle now includes oXygen XML Editor 10.3.

RenderX has released XEP 4.15. This major release brings a new backend, SVG improvements and performance related features:

• HTML backend has been added. It generates a single HTML document that includes all pages.
• SVG patterns and gradients are supported.
• Opacity in SVG and alpha channel in PNG are supported in PDF backend.
• A new option - IMAGE_MEMOIZE_THRESHOLD - protects against memory leaks on instream SVG and 'data:' images.
• Less memory is required by PostScript generator.

A number of bugs have been fixed, including PDF linearization and positioning of Arabic diacritics. XEPWin 2.2 also runs on Vista 64bit and includes a number of configuration enhancements and bug fixes.

The DocBench bundle now includes oXygen XML Editor 10.2.
