ConnXion: Multi-Channel Document Delivery

“We have worked closely with RenderX since the early days of XEP and have seen a steady improvement in functionality, performance and reliability. It is now a cornerstone of the ConnXion system and is providing us with 100% stability.”

Mike Markham, Chief Technology Officer, ConnXion

Connectivity Kit

ConnXion provides services for automatic generation and seamless multi-channel delivery of complex documents. The service is built entirely upon XML and Java technology, and employs XSL:FO as the foundation format for all document generation. ConnXion uses RenderX XEP for rendering of documents prior to delivery.

The ConnXion system is optimized for high volume distribution of invoices, statements, reports, letters, reminder notices, in fact just about anything which can be displayed or printed. Customers submit their data and images in any format convenient for them. ConnXion parses the data, generates the documents, and distributes them to recipients via mail, fax, e-mail, SMS or directly to recipients’ servers. ConnXion then monitors the deliveries and, if any delivery fails, automatically reroutes the document to an alternative destination and/or channel.

Development of ConnXion began when XSL:FO was a newly emerging technology. The system was built ‘from the ground up’ to utilize XML and, in particular, XSL:FO technology for generation and distribution of documents.

ConnXion is built around a number of guiding principles:

  • Effortless implementation. ConnXion accepts data in the format in which it exists today. Our customers are not required to invest in costly data conversion programs.
  • Seamless multi-channel delivery. A document appears identical regardless of whether it is delivered by paper, e-mail or fax. Messages can be sent to mobile telephones (SMS) and directly to recipients’ servers too.
  • Redirection. If a document cannot be delivered, ConnXion automatically reroutes it to an alternative channel or destination. Thus ultimate delivery is virtually assured.
  • Flexibility and precision. A document can incorporate any combination of fonts, graphics and hyperlinks. Documents are crafted with precision to appear exactly as our customers require.
  • Efficiency: ConnXion is optimized for performance. A single document generation run might produce anything from a few dozen to tens of thousands of documents.

Mike Markham, Chief Technology Officer, ConnXion

“Our business is built on customer service. We must be capable of generating any type of document (not just invoices and statements) and we must ensure that our customers’ document formats are reproduced exactly. We need a rendering tool which offers the full gamut of flexibility and precision enshrined in XSL:FO together with sufficient performance to generate tens of thousands of documents within an hour or two. XEP meets all of these criteria for us.”
