Senior Software Product Manager

Summary:

We are looking for an exceptional product manager with the knowledge of the publishing / direct mail market, industry, and XML-based software tools. May work partially from home.

  • This person will serve as a single point of responsibility for the product line and will work with R&D, Software Development, Support, Sales and Marketing teams to drive products' success.
  • Will research the market, understand users' needs, plans new features for the current and planned line of products.
  • Will create and maintain requirements documents.
  • Will work with software developers to plan release and milestone schedules, set priorities and allocate resources.
  • Will train Sales Team, monitor competitive activity and establish pricing strategies.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Defines long term strategy for product family. Provides a clear path for new product development. Develops and maintains product roadmaps, sets meetings with strategic customers, gathers information on competition, sets priorities within Software Development, drives new product development efforts throughout the organization and Software Development specifically.
  • Develops new product specifications, follows product through all stages: from initial development to product launch through end-of-life. Participates in product modification, margin analysis, advertising and promotion, forecasting, product positioning and pricing strategies.
  • Maintains market position of products by managing existing products and competitive market information. Travels to customer sites to gather new product information, market intelligence, and support sales staff.Maintains market position of products by managing existing products and competitive market information.   • Coordinates marketing documentation content: supports all product-related collateral, including promotional materials, product data sheets, presentations, and positioning collateral to support sales.
  • Works with current Marketing Team to recommend product display for industry trade shows, assembles product for display, and supports product demonstration on show floor.
  • Recommends ways to expand sales and profitability of products.
  • Responsible for training Sales Team on new products and new features.

Knowledge/Skills/Requirements:

  • BA/BS required, MA/MS preferred. Computer Engineering / Computer Science with Business or Product Management experience. An MBA is a plus. Appropriate work experience minimizes educational requirements.
  • Experience with publishing technologies, direct mail applications and ML applications would be exceedingly helpful.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Extensive project, people and product management skills are a plus.
  • Background in sales is a plus.
  • Comfortable with being single point of contact for the product family, working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work effectively with multiple disciplines, which includes interaction with Software Development, Sales, Marketing, and Business professionals.
  • Experience in working with remote software development staff is a plus.
  • Willing to take on small and large tasks; must be accountable and results-driven.
  • Position requires minimal amount of supervision.
  • Decision making is broad and justified by supporting material, such as market data, product line forecasts, and product roadmaps.
  • Exercising excellent judgment will be required for success.
