XEP for XML Spy

Information on this page refers to the previous version of XEP formatter, XEP 2.78. For XEP 3.x, there is no separate edition for XML Spy; instead, an XML Spy connection module is available as a free add-on for all users of the Client, Developer, or Server editions of XEP. The component can be downloaded from xAttic update page.

XEP 2.78 for XML Spy is a special edition of XEP designed to work with XML Spy - an XML editor for Windows by Altova GmbH, version 4.4 or later. It offers a convenient, "click-and-go" method to format XSL-FO documents from the editor, combining XEP's formatting quality with XML Spy's ease of use and user-friendliness. With XEP for XML Spy, you can:

  • convert XSL FO documents to a printable form through XML Spy menus and toolbars;

  • apply XSL FO stylesheets to XML documents, using an integrated XSLT transformer;

  • instantly view the PDF output in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

How to Buy

XEP for XML Spy can be purchased on-line via xAttic Web store. xAttic, Inc. is an authorized reseller of RenderX products: software purchased from xAttic has the same support/upgrade rights as the software acquired directly from RenderX.

The product comes in two flavors:

  • Regular - includes fully functional PDF, PostScript, and Area Tree generators;

  • Stamped - a low-cost package includes only a PDF generator, and applies a "XSL-FO/RenderX" stamp to each generated page. It is intended for prototyping and tutoring, not for production use.

Technical Details

The product is built upon XEP Rendering Engine and supports the same set of features. There is no separate evaluation version for it; please use XEP evaluation package to assess the formatting quality.
